HOTEL MONTEMAR

Our small hotel in a prime location for road bike tours on the Costa Blanca

Winter training in the sun

Our Hotel

We are a small hotel in Benissa, close to the coast. The perfect place to start your tour.
We offer a very nutritious breakfast so that you are well prepared for a wonderful bike tour. When you come back you can relax in our garden, jump into the pool (water temperature in winter almost 20 degrees) and have dinner next door in our Italian restaurant.

The surrounding area

If you are looking for stunning mountain scenery, quiet roads, good road surfaces and almost year-round sunshine, you have come to the right place. Cycling in our immediate neighbourhood offers these things in abundance. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, a bike ride is attractive at any time of year.
There are many great climbs in this area such as Port de Tudons, Coll de Rates, Confrides and Vall d'Ebo. If you prefer something flatter, you can head towards Denia and cycle along the beach.

Costa Blanca - Training camp for professionals

The world elite has been training here for several years. This is not surprising, the climate is perfect and the roads in the hinterland are very quiet. Did you know that Matthieu van der Poel's house is only 6 km from our hotel? On March 21, 2024, the ColoQuick team from Denmark cracked the KOM on the Coll de Rates (gradient 5.2% average) with an average speed of 31 km/h!

Cycling tours, rentals and repairs

You've never cycled in this area before? No problem! We organize weekly bike tours from the hotel. This way you can discover the area and meet like-minded people.
We'll show you the best climbs, the best coffee stops and make sure you have a great time. If you prefer to explore the roads on your own, we're happy to help you with routes or anything else you need.
There are several racing bike rental shops in the immediate vicinity. There are two workshops right near (500 meters) from our hotel, should something not work properly.

Coll de Rates

The Coll de Rates is the classic, the most climbed mountain in the region (and even in the world, it is said). A must-do when you are here.
This beautiful climb is 6.52 km long and has an average gradient of 5.2%. Some people do the 'Coll' once, as part of a long tour. Others stop at the 620 meter high pass, which is just a few minutes' drive from the rocky mountains.
